In pursuance of the Judgment of the Honble Supreme Court of India dated May 8th 2009 in Civil Appeal No. 887\/2009, the University Grand Commission has framed \u201cUGC Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009\u201d which have been notified on 4th July, 2009 in the Gazette of India. Our Maruthupandiyar College has follows this regulation and subsequent guidelines issued in letter and spirit as below.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ragging is strictly prohibited in our college campus. Anyone found guilty of ragging or encouraging ragging whether directly or indirectly is liable to be punished in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 and under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  • \n

    Anti-Ragging Committee will be the supervisory and advisory committee in preserving a Culture of Ragging Free Environment in the college Campus. The main objectives of this cell are as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • To ensure abidance compliance with the provision of UGC regulation 2009 at the institute level.<\/li>\n
    • To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity<\/li>\n
    • To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.<\/li>\n
    • To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.<\/li>\n
    • To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.<\/li>\n
    • To prevent any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.<\/li>\n
    • To prevent any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.<\/li>\n
    • To prevent any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.<\/li>\n
    • Any act of physical or mental abuse targeted at another student on grounds of color, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, regional origins, and linguistic identity, place of birth \/residence, or economic background.<\/li>\n
    • To address any ragging issues immediately and taken action as advised by the committee.<\/li>\n
    • Anti-Ragging Cell executive meeting will held at thrice in a year.<\/li>\n
    • To supervise, manage, and control the anti-Ragging Squads performance in preventing and reducing inside the institution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u00a0<\/p>\n

      Punishment for Ragging<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ragging is totally prohibited in our college campus and anyone found guilty of ragging and abetting ragging or being a part of conspiracy to promote ragging is liable to be punished in accordance with UGC regulations 2009 as well as under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force. Any student found guild of ragging in any form shall be liable to one or more punishment as follows:<\/p>\n

      • Cancellation of admission<\/li>\n
      • Suspension of classes<\/li>\n
      • Withholding scholarship and any other benefits<\/li>\n
      • Withholding results<\/li>\n
      • Suspension from hostel<\/li>\n
