RED RIBBON CLUB

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the government of India in Educational Institutions through which students will be making awareness of HIV/AIDS among people in rural areas. Red like love, as a symbol of passion and tolerance for those affected. Red ribbon is a symbol of both drug prevention and fight against AIDS. This club was founded in 2007 in college by Dr. Rupali Sharma (DAPO) D.D.U, Shimla. This club employs various strategies to bring about behaviour change in young minds. The activities include awareness campaigns through rallies and outreach activities, blood donation camps, and celebrations on numerous significant days such as AIDS day youth day, blood donor’s day, etc.. the role of the club is to educate the youth with correct concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/ Sexuality and other related issues.

Objectives of this club

To reduce new HIV infection among the youth by raising their risk perception through proper education on sex drugs, HIV/AIDS and other type diseases by imparting new skills on communication, self-protection and effective group interaction. To prepare the youth as peer educators and agents of change by developing and team building.
